I found an interesting slide show on youtube that is all about “bad” words that might ruin your sales efforts. Watch it now: “8 bad words which cause sales suicide”
A “landing page” is a page that serves as an entry point through which visitors pass to the main content of a site. Using landing pages is one of the most effective ways to make your paid search campaign successful. With a landing page you have the ability to capture names and email addresses through so-called “opt-in” form. Most of the customers don’t make purchase during the first time visit, but once you have their contact info, you’ll be able to send follow-up messages and cross-promote other offers and multiply your earnings. I have to admit, that landing pages are not so powerful these days as they used to be a couple of years ago. One of the biggest disadvantages is that you have to take time to build a landing page and writing quality content. There is no secret that Google doesn’t favor pages that don’t have “about” and “contact us” information, little or not content at all. Building a landing page and writing valuable content is not that hard, but it takes time. And the most effective way to add valuable content to your landing page is by writing product reviews, creating side-by-side comparisons, or by offering coupons and discounts. Take a look at the example:
this site has a very popular landing page model as customers like to see how products and services stack up against the competition. Basically, you are saving tons of valuable time for your prospective clients by creating a landing page with side-by-side product comparisons. But remember, that you goal is to give 3-5 reviews, instead of building a very “busy” product directory. Keep your reviews simple and try focusing on the most important (from customer’s point of view) aspects, such as: price, number of movies, shipping times, discounts, free trials etc. One thing that would definitely improve your conversion rate is adding a rating system. Let’s say you have 5 reviews of 5 different brands. The very first will get 5 star rating, and thus will be a clear winner. This will help your customers to make a decision.
I have checked many videos on youtube about creating and optimizing landing pages, and I believe this one you should watch
No matter which products you decided to sell as an affiliate, there are a few things that you should consider in order to capture visitor’s attention, keep their interest and motivate them to take action. One of the most important things is KNOWING YOUR CUSTOMER:
age, gender
demographic data
what they really buy when they buy this product (example: you sell an “anti-age lotion”, but your customer will buy a hope of living longer with no wrinkles:)
Another thing to take care of is developing a landing page “draft”, the wireframe. It will help you to determine your page structure. And as any draft, this can be done by using a simple pen and paper. While creating a wireframe, you should decide how many images you are going to use on your upcoming landing page and identify “call to action” and headlines. Remember, that headline is one of the most important components on your landing page and it should grab the visitor’s attention and motivate them to stick around. Your headline should be short and to the point.
